May 8th Journal Page

 The last time I did a collage it was done completely

with images I'd gleaned from magazines.

This one is all "found" images.

This will eventually be the backdrop, I'm just not

sure what I want to do over top of it yet.

 I love this little envelope that came with a necklace I

bought. It's the perfect little pocket for the page.

And when you close it, you can see the heart!

May 7th Journal Page

 I was in a doodling mood.

That is all.

May 6th Journal Page

This page is done.

All I did was color an entire page with black

permanent marker, then I wrote out my 

feelings in my favorite white pen.

Simple, but it gets the job done.

May 5th Journal Page

 I am not stoked about the way this page turned out.

I think I might gesso over the whole thing and start again.

I like the set-up, but the dictionary pages

take focus away from the words. 

May 4th Journal Page

My baby turned 2 last week, but we didn't have his party

until the 4th. This page is barely even started!

It's going to be SO amazing.

As soon as I get more ink for my printer.

May 3rd Journal Page

Two of my best friends graduated from the

University of Utah on May 3rd.

I decided to dedicate a whole page to them.

Once again, not done.

May 2nd Journal Page

I decided to do a collage of words and images that made me think of myself. 

I'm going to add a lot more sparkle to this page soon,

but I'm pretty happy how it turned out.

May 1st Journal Page(s)

Keep in mind two things as you look over this post: One, I am not a photographer, and two, these pages are not finished.

 This is the book that I'm using for my art journal.

I bought it at the grocery store one day on a whim.

Nothing special about it.

Yet.

 This is the introduction page.

The background is just torn up pages from an 

old Farmer's Almanac gessoed onto the page.

So far I've only used a black marker and a white pen.

There will definitely be more on this page later.

 Here is what my May 1st page looked like before journaling.

It's just torn up dictionary pages gessoed onto the page.

I love the way it looks. 

I laid down a thin layer of gesso over the dictionary pages,

not enough to cover it up completely, since I wanted the

background to be interesting. The border on the left-hand

side is washi tape, and then I just wrote directly on the page.

It's kind of boring right now, but I am going to add more

as time goes on.

I also added a little pocket for a more personal note

to myself that's not anyone else's business.

Like I said, yesterdays was a little boring, but I'm showing the process as I do it and things will definitely change and expand and grow more colorful over time.
